Rocket Campout!
Troop 663 just finished the rocket camp out and it was a BLAST! After building Alpha model rockets from Estes kit, we went out to Plaster City, in the desert to test them out! The rockets flew great, but some we weren't able to find :(, Anyway, after firing the rockets a few times we explored the desert, and stayed over night! And left back for San Diego in the morning.
Tenderfoot campout
On the 23 of April to the 25 of April, Troop 663 went on the tenderfoot campout. A campout designed to help teach necessary skills for camping and to help new scouts with rank advancement. During the campout the Older scouts taught the younger how to handle and use a knife, the basics of swimming and hiking safety, how to use a compass with a map, and how to follow an orienteering course. The new scouts also got their toten chit, and went on a 5 mile hike. Saturday ended by the new scouts singing songs and doing skits. After a swift trash pickup the new scouts left, with lots of new knowledge, and a taste of what to come.
